Climb the amazing stratovolcano of the Incas! Beginning at Salta we will ascend to Santa Rosa de Tastil cross Abra Blanca at 13780 ft and arrive San Antonio de los Cobres (11155 ft) by mid day on the first day.

Climb the amazing stratovolcano of the Incas! Beginning at Salta we will ascend to Santa Rosa de Tastil cross Abra Blanca at 13780 ft and arrive San Antonio de los Cobres (11155 ft) by mid day on the first day. We will pass through ‘Abra El Gallo’, then the mining camp of Olacapato and the Pocitos Salt Marsh, to get into the unique Salt Mountain Range, through Tolar Grande, and a visit to Dead Men´s Cave, Sea Eye and Sand Dune. By day 4 we have reached Llullayllaco base camp after passing Arizaro Salt Marsh, we ascend to the Caipe station, Llullayllaco Salt Marsh, and pass by the Inca Cemetery in the east face of the mountain, base camp will be set up (15912 ft). Ascending between camps is 4-8 hours of climbing each day. Day 8 is summit attempt, reaching mid day and return to Camp 2 and unwind the journey through the last 2 days, ending in Salta.

Day 1: Salta to Cerro Gógota to Abra Blanca (13,780 ft) to San Antonio de los Cobres (11,155 ft) and acclimatization.
Day 2: San Antonio de los Cobres to Tolar Grande and acclimatization hike.
Day 3: Tolar Grande, Visit to Dead Men´s Cave, Sea Eye and Sand Dune. Dinner and overnight at the Tolar Grande Refuge.
Day 4: Tolar Grande to Llullayllaco Base Camp. (15912 ft).
Day 5: Rext day at Base Camp. Day hike and equipment organization for high camps
Day 6: Ascent to Camp 1, 17717 ft. Climb 5 to 8 hours depending on the
weather, physical fitness and height adjustment of the hikers. Night preparation for the
next day ascent.
Day 7: Ascent to Camp 2. Ascent 19685 ft. Climb of 6 to 8 hours depending on the
weather, physical fitness and height adjustment of the hikers. Night preparing for the
next day ascent to the peak.
Day 8: Summit Attempt. Early start, summit by midday and return to Camp 2 with the option of descending to base camp depending on conditions and climber fitness.
Day 9: Base Camp to Tolar Grande
Day 10: Tolar Grande to Santa Rosa de los Pastos Grandes to Salta.
