Our first day of trekking takes 6 hours and gains 700 meters of altitude. We will hike through giant heather to moorlands and our first good view of snowcapped Kibo and Mawenzi. Our summit day is long and rewarding! We will walk up to 16 hours. Rising just after midnight, we climb Kibo for about 6 hours to Oilman’s point (5680m) on the rim of the volcanic crater for sunrise. If the day is clear there are spectacular views over the savannah plains with the possibility of seeing Mt Kenya some 360km away. final push to Uhuru Peak (5895m) - Africa’s highest point. Transport will be waiting at Marangu gate for the journey back to our hotel or for out bound flight. Those staying for the safari will spend 2 days in the Serengeti. People of the Maasai Tribe called it Siringitu - ‘the place where the land moves on forever.’ The park covers 14,763 sq km of endless rolling plains, which reach up to the Kenyan border and extends almost to Lake Victoria.
