Baruntse Expedition - 2015 Spring - 30 days days
The Khumbu massif is home to Baruntse Peak. This mountain lies at the center of 3 glacier valleys, yielding amazing views. Just west of Makalu, the world’s 5th highest mountain, Baruntse has an intriguing ridgeline and is surrounded by some famous peaks including Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. Baruntse is the most accessible 7,000m peak in the region and has a normal ascent route. Baruntse was first summitted by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow in 1954. Our ascent route takes the southern ridge overhanging the famous West Pass which was originally opened by Hillary and Shipton in 1952. This tour begins in Lukla and passes through the famous Sherpa countryside en route to Baruntse Base Camp, at an altitude of around 5,400m. Nearby, gorgeous lakes shine below Amphu Labtsa Pass. The route then follows a long ridge leading to the summit. An ascent on Baruntse is an adventure for climbers wishing to meet a true Nepalese 7,000m.
Day 01 (6-Oct): Arrive Kathmandu, meet our representative and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02 (7-Oct): At leisure in Kathmandu / administrative formalities.
Day 03 (8-Oct): Fly to Lukla and trek to Payun (2,290m).
Day 04 (9-Oct): Trek to Pangkongma (3,010m).
Day 05 (10-Oct): Trek to Nyungsowa (2,300).
Day 06 (11-Oct): Trek to Zetra khola (3,790m).
Day 07 (12-Oct): Trek to Kote (4,120m).
Day 08 (13-Oct): Trek to Thangnak (4,350m).
Day 09 (14-Oct): Acclimatization day.
Day 10 (15-Oct): Trek to Khare (5,100m).
Day 11 (16-Oct): Mera La (5,415m) crosses then trek to Rato Odar.
Day 12 (17-Oct): Trek to Seto Pokhari.
Day 13 (18-Oct): Trek to Baruntse Base Camp (5550m).
Day 14 (19-Oct): Ascent of Baruntse using 3 camps above Base Camp
Day 15 (20-Oct): Climbing period of Baruntse (7,129m/23,389ft)
Day 16 (21-Oct): Climbing period of Baruntse
Day 17 (22-Oct): Climbing period of Baruntse
Day 18 (23-Oct): Climbing period of Baruntse
Day 19 (24-Oct): Climbing period of Baruntse
Day 20 (25-Oct): Climbing period of Baruntse
Day 21 (26-Oct): Climbing period of Baruntse

Day 28 (2-Nov): Trek down to Rato Odar.

Day 30 (4-Nov): Trek to Kothe.
Day 31 (5-Nov): Trek to Zetra Kharka.
Day 32 (6-Nov): Trek to Lukla (2880m).
Day 33 (7-Nov): Fly Lukla / Kathmandu & transfer to hotel.
Day 34 (8-Nov): At leisure in Kathmandu.
Day 35 (9-Nov): Transfer to airport for international departure.

- Air travel to/from Nepal,

- Personal travel, high risk, accidental and medical insurance of member,
- Emergency rescue evacuations,
- Respective expenses if one returns earlier from the expedition due to sickness or emergency purpose.
