Rolwaling Khumbu - 24 days

Grade:
Duration: 24 days
Rating: Normal
Destination: Nepal
Season:

A scenic drive on the Kathmandu - Lhasa highway begins this adventure! We rest at the ancient trading town of Dolakha then begin the trek through the Rolwaling Valley which is celebrated as one of the seven hidden valleys in the Himalayas. We will pass through beautiful Sherpa and Tamang villages. Rolwaling is the east - west valley below Gauri Shanker (7,145m) just south of Tibetan border. Beding and Na are the last Sherpa villages of this valley. Many expert Sherpa climbers from this area have conquered Mt. Everest and numerous other 8,000m peaks. We cross over the Tashi Lapcha pass (5,755m) and visit the hometown of Tenzing Norgay, Thame. Next we enter the Khumbu Valley, the land of the Sherpas which lies at the foot of Mt Everest. There are great views of Mt. Gauri Shanker, Mt. Dorje Lakpa and Mt. Tashi Lapcha all along the trail. This trek also offers a great opportunity for short climbs on Ramdong Go (5,930m) and Pharchamoro (6,187m). Be prepared for strenuous hiking. Technical climbing experience and good mountaineering gear are essential.

Local experience with international exposure

We realize that you have many choices when selecting a guiding company and we believe we have the perfect combination of local and international experience to give you the best adventure. While most US companies are reliable and insured as US regulations require, they are often very expensive and lack the local knowledge of Asian companies. Asian companies have a more affordable price and offer the benefits of a local experience, yet reliability and standards are often lacking. We are the best of both. We are licensed in the US and hold ourselves to the highest standards in quality and expectations, and we also run all our own tours locally, with our own Sherpa guides and support staff.
